I am currently still a University student, but it would be good to live and work in america for a year or something, to experience what it is like. How can I do this? Lol, legally of course.

can,t be that difficult. there,s many people from australia here now. finding a job might be an issue, as the economy is still kind of soft. contact the american consulate. ask at school. there has to be a lot of questions like this. just give some thought to the type of climate you,ll be comfortable in. there is a lot to choose from. i,m in northern illinois. we,re going into fall. having a near freeze this weekend. texas is warmer, and seems to have a healthier economy than many states.

Eligible young Australians can go to the USA on a working holiday for 12 months. American sponsorship is required but that is easier to get than it sounds. See the following for information http://exchanges.state.gov/jexchanges/jexchanges/docs/australia_newzealand_2009.pdf http://www.immi.gov.au/visitors/working-holiday/australians-overseas/

To work in US, you must obtain Temporary Workers visa with approved petition filed by US Employer who is hiring you. http://travel.state.gov/visa/temp/types/types_1271.html
