The Native Americans! They lived all over the prairies. You know, Red Indians? Big feather head dresses? Pocahontas? Then the Europeans came and killed the Native Americans and stole their land. Sorry, I'm not American so I'm not sure of dates or anything. I have an idea in my head it was Colombus who was first there, and he thought he was in India and called the Native Americans "Red Indians".

There's an almost universal consensus that the first people to live on the continent of North America inhabited the Yukon River valley in Alaska and the Yukon territory. Whether they ventured south via the sea or around the glaciers etc is a matter of debate. Which modern ethnic group they represented is a matter of debate. What we do know is that there was multiple waves of immigration by a variety of ethnic groups to the continent to foster the Native nations of today.
