I have a cousin whose best friend stay in Europe, keep insisting he should move there cause it's a fair and better place for blacks to live. I wouldn't mind getting away from all the bull here in the states, it would be nice to be judge on ones performance and not ones appearance.

Scandinavian countries are totally biased, in my opinion.

Maya Angelou, in her autobiography 'I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings' said she moved to France to get away from American racism, but she found it there too, only more subtle. Even in Africa, she said, the managers and clerks in the hotels were lighter-skinned and the porters and bellboys were darker-skinned. But it would be interested to live there for a while to see how it's different. At least you'd have access to health care. 8^)

No matter where you go, whites will always be racist and insecure.

It really depends on what part. Western Europeans tend to be more accepting of other race's and cultures while Eastern Europeans do not like other race's at all. Actually many non-whites that visit or move to Russia are attacked.

I live in Canada. I have two black sons and many black friends. To all of us, Canada is the best place on earth to live, especially for black people. I do not see discrimination, prejudice or judgement in connection with the people that I know. When my sons go to the States, or to Europe for that matter, they return saying they are so glad that they live in Canada. In the town that I live, our Major is black and has been re-elected three times. That in itself tells the story. When President Obama was elected I do not know many Canadians who did not cheer out loud that he had been put into the highest position in America. I suggest you try Canada, especially Western Canada, if you do not want to leave the North American continent. I do not think you will be sorry you did.

Sorry your experiencing problems where you live because the color of your skin. Ignorance breeds ignorance and that is a common problem in the states. I have friends throughout Eastern Europe and England as well and your best bet would probably be Great Britain, France, or even Portugal. Do you speak French, Spanish, or Portuguese? I have heard the French are much more accepting of people of color. Good luck in finding peace and happiness!

Nina Simone moved to France because of racism, but I don't know the reality she found. But you need to temper your tolerance, Europeans. Are you SURE just ANY African American multiplied by millions is going to thrive in neurotic Germany, where it's against the law to take a shower after 10:00PM because you might disturb your neighbor because of too much noise?. Many African Americans would be woefully unable to navigate Europe. They're American, and some of them are part of the American problem, the reflection of which Europeans loathe in us: being in your face, show boating, grossly overweight yet "suggestively" attired ("tasteless" doesn't really do it justice), that pathological sense of entitlement found in ALL Americans born after 1980, loud music, screaming, cars coming and going at all hours and drugs. Choose carefully. The American version of Blacks have virtually nothing in common with Black Europeans or Africans. They are distinctly American, and although I'm no racist, I can tell you, that they can eff something nice up real fast if allowed to. I'm not a racist. I'm simply not afraid to speak the truth. Wait until the French enjoy American style Black on Black violence or the Italians become accustomed to hearing "gimme all yer fyckin' money, you white lookin', racist motherfycker" or the Germans have their beloved Mercedes, Audis and BMWs routinely "jacked," then stripped and discarded after the joy ride, and you may come to find that "too much of a good thing, is NOT a good thing!" There's nothing quite as comforting or confidence assuring as a 6' 3" Black man standing by a phone booth at 3:00AM. Obviously, that's only 1% of American Blacks, who comprise ~13% of our 305 000 000 citizens. But that 1% can change your life very radically. So many African Americans may immigrate to Europe, but unfortunately for them and Europa, some of their "baggage" won't be lost in transit. As La Simone said: "'Nuff said."
