if they were born in america, then I guess they're american, they have animal rights, so.

Let me answer your question with another question. Are you high?

I think it works same as human. Gotta change the citizenship and all. If its born where you live then yes, maybe.

Of course! Even if an animal has 'English' (such as the English Setter) in the name yet lives in America, the animal is still American. The 'English' part simply means that is where the animal originally came from. That animal is still going to be English originally just like I am originally from France, but because it lives in America makes it American! I live in New Zealand but I don't call myself French, I'm a New Zealander. And if the animal from America moved to say, Italy, I'd still consider that animal American, not Italian. Just like if I moved to Italy, I wouldn't make me Italian. Honestly though people don't think about that sort of thing when it comes to animals too much. To most people, a dog is a dog and a cat is a cat. But it's an interesting question!

sounds right to me but many dogs and cats keep the name of there country of origin like the german sheperd dog or the british shorthair cat but if they are born in the usa then they are american no mater what they are called

No. I got my dog in Canada, and my cat was a stray, so who knows where he came from. All of my gerbils are from the US though :)
