Do you have to live in America or be american to register on the AKC website?
Do you have to live in America or be american to register on the AKC(american kennel club) website? Because I am not american and I don't live in america? Does this mean I can't register on the website? I can't find anything on the website that says that you need to be in america

Why would you register with AKC if you are not in America? Seems pretty pointless to me. I am sure there is a KC where you live.

Well, since your dog is not already registered with the AKC, they would have to be registered with a recognized foreign registry to be eligible for AKC registration. If you look at the rules for transferring registration from a foreign registry to AKC, it says "2.The dog is physically in the United States even if the owner is a foreign resident. Note: If the current owner is not a resident of the US, we would require proof that the dog was or is in the US. We will generally check the dogs show records in-house to see if the dog has been shown. We would also accept a statement from a Vet stating that the dog was examined in the US." http://www.akc.org/rules/special_registry_services.cfm So yes and no, you don't have to live in the US to register with the AKC but the dog must be there. Add- Or was the dog purchased in the US and is eligible for AKC registration?

As in to register your dogs with the AKC? Or just to register yourself on the website? I'm a little confused, sorry (that seems to happen to me a lot, lol). If you mean to register your dogs with the AKC, then yes, you and your dogs would need to live in the US (that's why it's called the AMERICAN Kennel Club, because it covers dogs living in the US). Not sure where you live, but most countries have a Kennel Club to cover dogs living in that country. If you mean to register yourself on the website (didn't know they had that option??) for emails, posts, etc... to my knowledge, no you don't have to live in the US. Worse comes to worse, find the "contact us" link on their site, and ask them. They would probably be able to better answer your question.

I am assuming you just purchased a dog with AKC paperwork or planning on it. You should be able to transfer the paperwork to your countries kennel club. I breed international bloodlines and have never seen international dogs with AKC...i have seen international dogs get brought to america and switched to AKC paperwork. But you got me on this question. You can try to contact AKC. There should be a number on the website.

I live in America, yet I still won't register my Border Collies with AKC. Most AKC breeders are ruining my breed by breeding for looks rather than brains. Stay far away from AKC. Have to wonder, why, if you live in another state, you'd want to register with this corrupt registry.

Nope- you can register on the site- no problem

No. But the parents of your dog must be registered with them.
