Is it easier to get into Film industry if you live in America

Is it easier to get into Film industry if you live in America?
Well I live in London and Im studying Film and English at uni and I want to do something involved in both/either later on in life. I would love to go into film do some producing screenwriting or even become a writer. Im contemplating leaving London a year or so after I finish my degree to live in the states. Will it be easier to get into either publishing or Film in the USA. And is it better/cheaper to live there? Is California expensive to live in and is it nice?

Film is really an American industry- it's our biggest export- and the majority of major content is still produced here. As someone who has lived in both LA and London (only 3 months in UK, but still) LA is much, much cheaper than London, especially since our economy is in the toilet, the exchange rate is good for you. I would say if you really wanted to make a go of it in the film industry- you need to be in the hub, which is Hollywood Los Angeles. As far as nice, it is America, so if your not used to dealing with Americans, well we can be a little stubborn- its warm and there is the beach, but I'd compare most of LA to East London- not really unsafe in that you can be shot at any moment (but there are those parts), you just have to watch yourself all the time.
