ur baby will be a resident of Canada why would you go somewhere in a different country when ur about to have a baby?

You should really postpone your trip. Most doctors don't recommend traveling at that stage of pregnancy not only because you would have the baby in an unfamiliar place but also because you can suffer from health problems from the traveling itself.

The bill will be about $1,000 per night (in Vancouver - might be less elsewhere) plus more for extras such as epidural, etc. if you're not a Canadian resident. The hospital will likely want your credit card plus any health insurance that you have.

You need to find out if your health insurance covers you in Canada. Tourists and other short-term visitors do > not < qulaify for Canada's national health care program and you will have to pay for medical services: http://www.consular.canada.usembassy.gov/medical.asp

you will have to pay ALL medical costs and having a baby in Canada does not give you any rights to live in Canada

On top of being responsible for all medical costs incurred, depending on where you decide to make your crossing, it is highly likely you will be denied entry into our country. Customs agents are very suspicious of women late in pregnancy (when you should not be traveling anyways) crossing into Canada.......So many Americans try this, hoping to be able to skip out on the bills (Don't worry, they will find you no matter where in the US you go) or that in the hopes that their baby being born in Canada will give them a quicker route to being able to live here. Its quite possible you will be asked to prove you have the funds available to pay for your entire medical bill, which can start at around $1000 for a completely uncomplicated delivery with no drugs......if you wind up needing stitches, additional prescriptions for you or baby, or even a C-section, you could be looking at close to $10,000......or more.....before being allowed into Canada. If you live ten minutes from the border, you can come to Canada any other time. Stay home during your last trimester.

You may be refused at the border. I'm pretty sure they will insist that you go to an american hospital if there is one within reach. Otherwise you pay the whole bill. [If by any chance you do not pay the bill, it will affect your credit in the USA.]
