What is the best place to live in America according to my criteria

What is the best place to live in America according to my criteria?
I currently live in Mid-Michigan, the lower part. The economy sucks here and the people are very uneducated, ignorant and cliqueish, though the people do have manners and are reasonably friendly. I want to live in a place where people are friendly, reasonably intelligent but not overbearingly pretentious and arrogant and has a good economy. Currently, where I live, using proper grammar and reading the newspaper qualifies you as a genius. There is a lot of crime, drug use and apathy. I don't think it'd be a good place to raise kids if I have any. The people are pretty depressing. I really like the West Coast, but I'm open to anywhere else. I'm black and East Indian(yes, the curry/slurpee kind), by the way. I'm not from Michigan or America originally, by the way. I used to live in Ann Arbor and I hated it as a student. The people were arrogant, pretentious, politically loony and pseudo-intellectual and had no social skills WHATSOEVER.

If you like the Midwest you may want to check into Des Moines Iowa metro area. Housing is fairly reasonable, great schools, and good variety of jobs. (Insurance Companies mostly) A good mix of white collar and blue collar jobs. Des Moines is growing and trying to develop a more cultured image.

Grand Rapids, Michigan. Vibrant city with a good economy. Right in your own state.

Middlesex county in NJ has a strong economy, a high level of education and a large Indian population. Check out Edison or North Brunswick.

I'm in Central Florida, Volusia County. It's nice here if you can take the other drivers. Most people are polite, even though we get a lot of transplants from the North Eastern portion of our nation. Depending on the city, you can find reasonably intelligent people. Deland is nice- a quiet town, but possibly a little too redneck. Orange City, DeBary, are both good bets if you want a small town. Just stay away from Deltona. Seminole County is also a good choice. Longwood, Lake Mary, both nice towns. Good schools, close enough to Orlando to enjoy being near the city but without the headaches of being in the city. And our weather is great- I've lived here my entire life and have never seen snow. The economy is good, and if you have technical skills, i.e., computers, you're sure to find a good job.

Some folks may laugh, but Huntsville, AL. Huntsville is a high tech town with NASA and Redstone Arsenal. Housing is affordable, and folks are friendly and polite. Because of the military presence, there is a lot of diversity there. Also, the University of Alabama has a campus there. There are lots of ethnic restaraunts there too.
