Your wife will need to apply online here.... http://ukinusa.fco.gov.uk/en/visiting-uk/visas/ She has to apply online. Fill out the online application, then at the end she will have to pay. She will also have to make her biometrics appointment. Print off both the application and the biometrics appointment. Go to biometrics. Have paper stamped. Send off both the printed application, biometrics stamped sheet, and all supporting documents. It can take several weeks, up to 6 months to have the visa processed. It will take some planning and savings in order to do so. Once she has passed this, she can then immediately convert to ILR. This will free her from immigration control. It also means any an all benefits she/you qualify for she can receive. Spouses who do not have ILR are restricted from benefits. So it is well worth asking for this endorsement. Current cost for a spousal/settlement visa is 750 pounds.
